Free Computer Workshops

There are still some places left for any Year 7, 8 or 9 Parents’/Carers who would like to attend the Computer Workshops.

The dates are Thursday 2^nd February or Tuesday 27^th March at 7pm until 9:15pm in R21.

They are designed for anyone who would like help and support with using ICT.

Years 10 & 11 Students – French GCSE Speaking Revision

French GCSE Speaking Revision

Date: 17 February 2012

Years: 10 & 11

Presenter: Philip Campagna (MFL PGCE course leader) and MFL PGCE students

 

This one day course is focused solely on preparation for the controlled speaking assessment exam and will cover all the main exam boards’ criteria. There will be native speakers to help with pronunciation and fluency and the low adult to student ratio ensures students practice as much French as possible in a short period of time.

Year 11 Parents’ Evening

Dear Parent/Carer,

Year 11 Parents’ Evening – Wednesday 1 February 2012

I would like to invite you to attend the Year 11 Parents’ Evening which will be held on Wednesday 1 February in the Richards Building between 5.00 and 7.30 pm.

This will be an opportunity to meet with your son or daughter’s individual subject teachers to discuss their academic progress.  Interim reports containing expected and target grades will be published before the evening and copies will be available for collection on the evening.

As usual, your son or daughter will need to make appointments for you using the form in their organiser (page 139) .  If teachers particularly wish to meet with you, they may indicate this in the planner or by contacting you directly.

Each appointment will be limited to five minutes and it is advisable to leave a gap of five minutes between appointments.  If you require a longer conversation with teachers, a separate meeting will be necessary on another date.

I would be grateful if you could return the attached reply slip to your child’s tutor to show that you have received this letter.

I am writing to invite you to the Year 7 Parents’ Focus Evening to be held on Tuesday 31^st January 2012 at 7.00 pm in the S Block Hall.

 

The agenda is as follows:

 

1. Using Data to Monitor Progress – Mr Marcus Chapman and Miss Emma Davies. This is an opportunity for you to find out about the data we gather for each student and how we use it to check they are making suitable progress in each subject area. Intervention strategies will also be explained. You should also have the opportunity to find out more about the information we provide on the interim and full reports to parents
2. Any other business

Free Computer Workshop for Parents/Carers of Years 7, 8 & 9

You are invited to attend one of the following free Computer Workshops, at The Corsham School in R21, from 7pm to 9.15pm. The workshops are for all Parents/Carers of Years 7, 8 and 9 who would like to improve their own IT skills, in order to support their child at home. The workshops will cover:

• Basic IT skills if required
• What to look for when buying a computer
• Internet searching
• Getting the most out of the Parent Portal
• Using the school email system
• Revision resources including Sam Learning, Birchfield and Subject Home Sites
• Microsoft Office  2010 introduction (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)

These are hands on workshops where you will be able to build confidence and ask questions. Places are limited and will be allocated on a first come, first served basis. Your allocated date will be confirmed by letter once all the applications are in. Remember that these workshops are for Parents/Carers only and no children should attend. Please contact me if you require any more information.
