The Yr 13 Drama and Theatre Studies visit to London
The Yr 13 Drama and Theatre Studies group had an exciting day in London on Friday 26 November. In the morning they had a tour of The Globe Theatre followed by the opportunity to explore the Globe’s exhibition. In the afternoon they visited the Roundhouse Theatre where they saw a new play by writer Philip Osment called ‘Inside’. The student certainly agreed with Sir Ian Mckellen’s view that  ‘Its impact on the audience was startling and, for me, it was a most convincing theatrical representation of life in prison’. A very successful and educational trip for all involved.

Top TV Scriptwriter Visits Corsham
TV scriptwriter Alan Whiting came into school to talk to Year 12 Media Students about professional script writing and about working in the television industry. Alan wrote the screenplay for ITV’s Wire in the Blood, Kingdom with Stephen Fry and Heartbeat. The experience was fascinating and valuable for the students and we hope to have Alan in again to share his experiences with staff and students alike.

Year 9 Ypres Belgium Trip
This November 90 pupils visited the World War 1 battlefields in Belgium. The howling winds, torrential rain and snow resulted in this being an extremely moving empathy experience for the pupils who struggled to keep warm in their modern outdoor clothing.
Robyn Scott, Charlie Dewing, Isaac Sellens and Sian Buckley-Humphries laid wreaths at the Menin Gate on behalf of The Corsham School to remember all who gave their lives in the conflict.
Mrs Bartlett was lucky enough to go twice and looks forward to taking more students next year.

Emily Moore, Hannah Lias and Hannah Rees
It was a great experience, very moving and memorable. We’re all very glad that we got such a great chance to see these sights. My favourite experience was the trenches. It was good to see the terrible conditions they had to fight in. The shell holes were good to see as I never thought they would bring that much damage.’
