As you know we were inspected by OFSTED on the 11th and 12th December 2012 and I am writing to let you know that the report is now available on our website.
The inspection was carried out under a new framework which has been in place since 1st September 2012. As reported in the national press, the criteria against which judgements are made are now far more challenging than in the past. I know very few secondary schools in the country that have been awarded outstanding since September.
I am extremely pleased with the report for a number of reasons. The behaviour and safety of students and the 6th Form have been judged as outstanding. In addition, the school’s focus on creativity is mentioned favourably in the first line of the report. Indeed the whole report is written in a positive way and captures much of the fundamental ethos of the school. I support the areas for further development and was party to agreeing them with the inspection team.
I would like to thank the large number of parents who completed the online Parent View which formed part of the inspection process. The tremendous support that the school receives from parents has been celebrated in the report. The chart overleaf quantifies the parent responses which indicate that the partnership between the school and our parents is extraordinarily strong with all statements scoring higher than OFSTED had previously experienced. The number of parental responses was 126.
I would also like to thank the governing body who played an important part in the inspection process and have deservedly been praised in the report.
I have made available paper copies of the report if any parent wishes to have one. Your child can collect a copy from main reception.
Once again I would like to thank you personally for your support with the inspection and more importantly for your ongoing support that is so integral to the schools success.
