Governor News

The Governing Body currently has 3 vacancies.  One is for a parent Governor; we currently have five and are required to have six parent Governors.  If you are interested in this position please feel free to contact the Chair of Governors or any of the Governors listed below to find out more about what is involved in the role.

Niall Smiddy at niall.smiddy@corsham.wilts.sch.uk  (Chair of Governors)

         Rachel Sellens at rachel.sellens@corsham.wilts.sch.uk

         Mike Large at mike.large@corsham.wilts.sch.uk

         Nick Loake at nick.loake@corsham.wilts.sch.uk

The selection of the parent Governor will be by ballot of all parents/carers and letters are being sent out to all parents/carers which will explain the procedures. In the event that only one name is put forward, this person will automatically be appointed.

The other two vacancies are co-opted positions, which the existing Governors can appoint directly.  One of these positions is to replace Nick Davis, who has been a great supporter of the school in his 22 years of being a Governor.  I would just like to express our thanks to Nick for his time and dedication over these years.  Nick has a legal background and we would really like to have a new Governor with similar experience.  So, if there are any of you out there with a legal background, then we would love to hear from you.  Given the size and complexity of the school it is important that in addition to committed parent Governors, we have a range of other skills within the Governing body.  These skills currently include legal, personnel, finance, IT, company management and coaching.

A few other notes on what we have been doing recently as a governing body.  You will probably be aware that we are now a Multi Academy Trust about which we are very pleased.

We have also recently spent some time reviewing the recent OFSTED report and its recommendations and agreeing actions to address them.
Best regards

Niall Smiddy
Chair of Governors
